London's hottest underground party Body Hammer comes to New York for a special one night stand of disco, electro and acid. Started in Spring 2008, the night was created out of a love of all things that can be called real dance music; 80’s electro, Chicago house, new beat, techno, Italo, acid and EBM. The club night pushes the sounds of Chicago, Detroit, Den Haag, New York and Berlin. It has since risen to be one of the most whispered about parties on the London scene. Previous guests have included Legowelt, Bangkok Impact and Orgue Electronique. Body Hammer is currently hosted in a top secret tower block in the East End, those that come are those that know.
DJs + Live Performers
Body Hammer’s Joe Hart is also a resident DJ at the Bloc electronic music festival, he has played alongside the likes of Carl Bartos, Newcleus, I-F, Black Devil Disco Club, Autechre and Alexander Robotnik. He has an obsession with the past, and subsequently, is an expert on 80’s dance music. He is heavily influenced by Chicago’s WBMX radio and its ‘Hotmix 5’. Expect to hear everything all mixed up, from italo tear jerkers to O.G electro to fierce acid.
Body Hammer’s Paul Purgas is best known as one half of Bristol's Emptyset, which had their US debut at the Bunker in NYC last year. He joined Body Hammer as an alternative output beyond the precision techno game. His DJ sets span everything from Hi-Nrg Disco, UK Industrial, dub techno, smack-haus minimal and good old fashioned jack tracks....all killer, no filler.
Body Hammer will be joining forces with our friends bubl-lab. The bubl lab's own secret weapon, producer and vocalist, Khoom and the Ten $$ Outfit will be weaving a live set of their own brand: hi-end/low-bit beat-mixing hysteria. Khoom has been featured as a headlining artist with the BublLab, the Clubhouse, MC2 Studios, and Club Babylon, Izhevsk, Russia. Alongside her will be DJs Jools Palmer and Brian Traister. Jools Palmer has played venues of all sizes including Centro-Fly, Guernica, Martinez Gallery in NYC, Club Babylon in Russia, Silk City (Philly) and played with such acts as Traxx, Lenny Fontana and Steve Travolta. While Brian is not only a respected DJ, but also a very talented producer who's known for rocking on gear that he has built with his own hands.
To continue on in true Bodyhammer form, this party is located in an unlikely venue - the basement of Brick in Lower Manhattan. You can get there from almost any subway train. Bring an extra T-shirt as you are guaranteed to be a victim of heavy sweating all night long!
