In recent times their has been a lot of excitement about the music coming out of Israel. One such reason for this is a very talented DJ/producer called Moshic.

1. To those unaware of your work - how would you describe yourself?

An electronic music producer and a DJ who is constantly trying to bring his own unique sound to the world. I always explore the boundaries of sounds, and I will not be a “slave” to any sound, trend or something. When you hear a couple of my records together in a row you will notice that I have a kind of sound stamp, trying separate my self from the scene and makes people recognized my sound and work.

2. What Residencies do you currently hold?

I hold a monthly residency in Israel’s most leading club- TLV, but when I come to think of it I bearly have time for residency these days.

3. How has the current issues in Israel effected the clubbing scene? Have there been decreased numbers in clubs?

I can say it mainly affected one thing- the foreign DJ bookings have gone down to a minimum. People seem to be afraid to come over as if we’re in a war zone or something but we’re not. The clubs are still full cause after all people do need a break once a week so they’ll always go out and party.

So we’re enjoying with the local DJ’s and once in a while some foreign DJ’s pay us a visit.

I just came back from Eastern Europe and I must say that I saw a big expansion of the progressive scene over there. It reminded me of the good times we had in Israel, the magic vibe when it all started.

4. What is your favourite club to play at? What is the best night you have played at? What makes a good night for you?

I think it’s the ‘ULTRASOUND’ in the north of Israel (where I come from and I grew up). It’s like playing at home.

And the second one is the TLV of course. I have to say that I have had a few amazing sets at the TLV ,and the best night I had over there was in the gays & mixed party night called “FFF”. Something was in the air that night and I played at least 6 hours (including warming up my self..hehe). One of my best sets ever.

5. A lot of people would know you from your work both DJing and producing with Zidan. What is Zidan like to work with? What is the environment like in the studio when you guys are in there together?

The work with Zidan was fun, it was his first time to sit down and produce tracks and the energies where good from the beginning, because everything was new for him and it was a new thing for me as well to collaborate with someone.

So we made 3 singles together for Plastica and we had some magical moments with this project. The best living proof for that is of course the awesome “Nightstalker”.
These days I am so busy with my own various projects and Zidan is trying to learn more on the technical side so I’m sure that he will come up with something on his own some day.

6. Your track "Nightstalker" with Zidan was liscensed to a number of compilations including Danny Howell's ‘Nocturnal Frequencies 3’ and Jimmy Van M's ‘Bedrock: Compiled and Mixed’. Would you say this is your strongest production thus far? What is your favourite piece of production you have done (either original track or remix)?

It’s pretty hard to say that “Nightstalker” is my strongest production amongst 30 other tracks I made so far. Every track that comes out of my studio is a result of a long creative process until I’m satisfied enough that its finished.

I can say that one of my favourites is “Panic System” for sure…and I still get strong reactions when I’m performing around the world (including special requests in the middle of my set saying “can you please put on Panic System”…hehe).

I also produce under the alias name “ARGONOUT” (Cyber Records) and two other top tunes for me are “Don’t Wake Me Up” and “Body Temple”. It is very deep trancey tracks that even influenced the likes of DJ TIESTO (with his happy trancey style). In fact, “Body Temple” was licensed to Tiesto’s new compilation “In Search For The Sunrise 3”.

But please ask me this question in a few years from now again…don’t know what will be the answer then...hehe...(evil look!!)

7. What can we expect from you in the near and distant future? Any plans on albums etc…? (Both production and DJ wise)

I finished some new remixes that I’m really proud of and some new original tracks. My new releases are coming out on ‘Bedrock’ (Digweeds label),’Pitch Black,’ ‘Music Now’. Some will come out towards the end of this year and also in early 2003.

And of course the main thing for me, is the highly anticipated album\compilation titled “Distorted Patterns” which is right around the corner. For me, “Distorted Patterns” summarises my best works (originals, remixes & special edits) in the last 2 years and I’m so proud with what I’ve done.

These days I’m planning the final stages in launching my first compilation “Distorted Patterns”. I have also finished an album production with an Israeli down tempo act which I’m part of. Its somewhere in the area of “Massive Attack” style, electronic production with vocals etc...

Playing around the globe and planning for my U.S and Australian tours to promote the “Distorted Patterns” CD release.

8.What albums and mix CD's have influenced you? What other DJ's/Producers have influenced what you do today?

All the trance sound pioneers influenced me like:

F.S.O.L – Lifeforms. One word – masterpiece.

LSG – Into Deep. I think Oliver Lieb was one of the main things that have pushed me to make music.

The Prodigy- Their 1st & 2nd albums were so underground back than.

Oliver Shanti- All his world music productions but the main album is “Well Balanced”.

I’m really not an average music buyer and most of my influences come from soundtracks and other music genres.

9.Outside the studio and clubs - what do you like to get up with in your spare time?

The problem in the music world is that it’s not like a regular 9 to 5 job where you can’t wait to leave your desk and go home. I live music 24 hours a day and that’s why music is life for me and spare time is always in shortage but I can’t complain.

I still remained faithful to one of my oldest hobbies, wave surfing. If there’s one thing that can get me out of the studio it’s for sure wave surfing!
