- Planet Mu will release the duo's debut album, Mercury, in October.
Steve Moore has partnered with Daniel O'Sullivan for an album on Planet Mu as Miracle.
The two artists make for a slightly unlikely match. Moore is an American synth enthusiast known for his lush, trancelike deep house for labels such as L.I.E.S. and Future Times, as well as his band Zombi—an outfit inspired by Italian horror movie soundtracks. O'Sullivan, meanwhile, is a London musician who has worked with heavy music luminaries like Sunn O)))'s Stephen O'Malley, Ulver and Jarboe, and perhaps best known for his work with British experimental rock group Guapo.
It was in the context of their bands that the two artists first met back in 2006 on a Zombi/Guapo tour. Their musical collaboration began about four years later, resulting in Mercury. Though they initially intended it as a dance music project, O'Sullivan began to add vocals to the tracks, turning things in a more "cosmic" direction, according to the label. Described as a selection of "anthemic power ballads," it's reportedly heavily influenced both by the 1987 film The Lost Boys and by Moore's own obsession with Italian horror cinema.
