- The Maltese producer was involved in a quad bike accident in Mosta on Sunday afternoon.
Maltese producer Rhys Celeste, AKA Microlith, has passed away aged 24.
According to Maltese news outlet TVM, Celeste died in a quad bike accident in the small town of Mosta at around 5:15 PM on Sunday, February 26th. He was out riding with friends when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a bus. Celeste, who is originally from Birzebbugia, a seaside town in Malta's south, was pronounced dead at the scene.
As Microlith, Celeste made melodic techno and IDM, releasing four albums and three EPs since 2014. Most of his work was self-released via Bandcamp, though he established a strong relationship with Sheffield outlet Central Processing Unit, which put out 2016's Dance With Me LP and another two EPs. His most recent outing, a four-tracker titled 1234, came out last month.
Our thoughts go out to Celeste's family and friends.
