  • Alessandro Cortini and Merzbow will release an album together on Important Records. Former Nine Inch Nails member Alessandro Cortini and Japanese noise legend Merzbow may seem like unlikely collaborators. They came together over their mutual love for the EMS Synthi, a British synthesizer from the early '70s that they used on this recording. (Brian Eno is another notable fan of the instrument, which comes in a portable suitcase and is known for its patch matrix and distinctive tone.) Cortini and Merzbow premiered their live show at the Tokyo edition of Berlin's Atonal festival last month. The self-titled double-LP is due out next month on the Massachusetts-based experimental label Important Records. There's no tracklist as of yet. Listen to a teaser.
Important Records will release Alessandro Cortini and Merzbow on April 21, 2017.
