  • UK R&B pioneers Soul II Soul will make their first appearance in Australia and New Zealand since 2009 this February. The group began in 1988 as a sound system founded by DJ and producer Jazzie B, who hosted warehouse parties and street gigs with several other members playing records and performing live. The following year Soul II Soul released the singles Keep on Movin' and Back to Life (However Do You Want Me), the latter of which reached number one in the UK and sold platinum in the United States. Jazzie B revived the sound system in 2009 after a long dormant period, visiting Australia for Playground Weekender early that year. The 2012 tour will include original vocalist Caron Wheeler and UK rapper and vocalist MC Chickaboo playing rare groove and soul. The sound system's first stop off will be in Auckland for Splore Festival on February 17th. From there they will play a yet-to-be-announced Perth show on the 19th, followed by a gig at The Governor Hindmarsh in Adelaide on Wednesday the 22nd. Trak Lounge will host the sound system in Melbourne on February 24th, and The Ivy in Sydney will be the final show of the tour on the 26th.
