  • Jim Coles, AKA Om Unit, will embark on an extensive tour of New Zealand, Australia and Singapore from mid-February. Surfacing in 2009 and becoming a regular on labels like Civil Music and All City, Coles took the next step with his Om Unit alias last October with Threads, his first LP under the guise. His touring schedule now includes a nine-date tour of the region, beginning with two shows in New Zealand. Coles will play Splore festival at Tapapakanga Regional Park, roughly an hour out of Auckland, which runs from February 14th to 16th and also features DJ Shadow, The Orb and Awesome Tapes From Africa. An Auckland city date is set for the 21st at Rakinos. Coles will then fly to Australia on February 22nd to play an Outer Bass Sound party at Sydney's Civic Underground alongside regulars Rubio, DJ Tokoloshe and B.O.O.M.A. He will then support three of Flying Lotus' Layer 3 live performances at Melbourne's Forum Theatre on February 28th, MONA in Hobart on March 1st and The HiFi in Brisbane on the 6th. They'll be broken up by a solo appearance at Canberra's Transit Bar on March 2nd. He heads home via Singapore, with a gig at Gem Bar locked in for March 8th.
