- The 4DSOUND-equipped venue, now home to "the world's most advanced spatial soundsystem," has also announced its opening programme of events.
MONOM, an experimental performance venue and spatial sound studio, will open in Berlin in December.
Situated in Funkhaus, a broadcasting complex in the east of the German capital, MONOM is the latest cultural endeavour from DVS1. It comes equipped with a high-spec 4DSOUND system, a spatial instrument that enables a physical and interactive sound environment. (Check out our feature on 4DSOUND from 2014.)
MONOM will host a three-part series of events to mark the venue's opening. Croatian Amor, Helm, Pyur and Thomas Ankersmit will perform shows across Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd. On Saturday, December 9th and Sunday, December 10th, lectures and a retrospective of works made in the last five years involving 4DSOUND will take place. It will be curated by Paul Oomen, the founder of 4DSOUND. Lastly, Max Cooper will perform the world premiere of a new composition on Friday, December 14th, and will be supported by Caterina Barbieri.
