  • Drew McDowall will return to Dais Records for a new solo album, The Third Helix, out in September. As Dais puts it, The Third Helix sees McDowall focused on "concept, ritual and immersion, in an exercise of unraveling the DNA of hallucination." The New York-based Scottish purveyor of dark, abstract electronics, who used to be a member of both Coil and Psychic TV, crafted eight tracks for the album. It's set to land on standard black vinyl along with a few clear and colored editions. The artwork comes courtesy of J.S. Aurelius, a founding member of Resident Advisor's recent label of the month Ascetic House. The album continues a connection between artist and label that's previously yielded two solo albums: 2015's Collapse and 2017's Unnatural Channel. McDowall's collaborator Hiro Kone also has an album on the way through Dais, and both artists—who together put out an EP through BANK Records NYC earlier this year—will celebrate the release of their records with two shows in New York next month. Listen to The Third Helix track "Rhizome."
