- "I wanted to find a way for musicians to make money directly from the music they make," the UK artist said.
James Blake is offering an alternative way to make money for artists.
After going viral on X for posts about low streaming and TikTok royalties earlier this month and teasing a "solution" a few days later, Blake has now released three tracks with a new music platform.
Vault, launched today, March 20th, allows fans to pay a monthly fee to receive unreleased music from an artist. The goal, according to Blake, is for artists to release music on their own terms. The platform features a chat section for users to discuss music and allows artists to connect with fans about tickets, releases and other announcements. More features are TBA.
As part of Vault's launch, Blake is offering unreleased music for $5 a month. "It's music direct from me to you where nobody can gatekeep what I release to you or delay my releases," he said in a video posted on social media. "I'm going to be able to drop way more music than I've ever been able to before."
