- South London Ordnance's rise has been rapid. I'd largely put it down to his consummate smoothness, his polished and liquid-like grooves flowing gracefully. This makes him a natural addition to the Hotflush roster, as the label increasingly redefines itself as a destination for tasteful big-room house.
Developing patiently and carefully, both tracks here are more about setting the mood than setting a rave on fire. "Revolver" is one of SLO's finest yet, his ample beats moving with an ebullient bounce. Less forceful than his previous work, the track's engine noise chords rumble across the stereo field like a bassline from an old techstep track. And though each hits harder than the last, the piano hits and jaunty bassline rein in the aggression. The flipside, "Transmission Funk," is even catchier. The track is an inverse of its counterpart, balancing a morsel of filtered melody with a rhythm section that circles and snaps like a tank of hungry piranhas.
