- Like many of his records, Drvg Cvtvre's first 12-inch on Omnidisc is full of rowdy energy yet surprisingly well-groomed. This Place Of Wrath And Tears has lightly distorted kicks, chewy 303 lines and screeching metal-on-metal collisions, but these elements, wild as they are, feel carefully applied and tempered by Vincent Koreman's studio precision.
On This Place Of Wrath And Tears, Koreman stacks his abrasive sounds neatly, and for the most part the results are satisfying. "Siege Of Power" is a dub techno record that sounds like a slowed-down Floorplan 12-inch reflected through a funhouse mirror. The steady acid chug of "Running In Front Of Cars" is fine if a little uninspired. "182 And A Half Day Of Bliss" has more going for it, using high-register laser sounds and sweeping synth notes to put a groove together. The digital-only tracks are definitely worth a look: "Endpoint Of Gravity" and "No Tomorrow No Tomorrow No" are every bit as good, if not superior, to the vinyl portion of the EP.
