- Dua Lipa's disco gets a shot of Detroit house.
- Dua Lipa and The Blessed Madonna's Club Future Nostalgia is something of a dance music crash course, weaving in classic samples from artists like Mr. Fingers and Barbara Mason amid remixes from crossover names like Yaeji and Jayda G. It runs like a mixtape, with mash-ups, bridges between tracks and some words from Dua Lipa herself, culminating in a glitzy Moodymann remix of "Break My Heart," one of the original album's standout hits.
Moodymann's remix is the best on the entire collection. It starts off in an echoey room full of laughter, the sounds of a nightclub once the music stops and the lights go on, before Moodymann's surprisingly delicate mix wraps itself around Lipa's voice. He plays with the vocal phrases, loops them, and adjusts his sound to fit hers. This remix is the truest in spirit to Future Nostalgia's retro disco sheen, enough to make you wonder what the album could have sounded like in Moodymann's hands. It's a fine way to end an audacious remix record that might have kids looking up Robert Owens and Masters At Work, and more importantly, is a fitting tribute to the discofied sound of one of the year's best pop albums.
