• Gloriously wobbly club music.

  • On his nearly ten-year journey through dance music, Milan producer Piezo has appeared on all sorts of labels, from Swamp 81 to Hundebiss to Version. But I'd wager Wisdom Teeth is the most ideal home for him, with an aesthetic that matches his: colorful, trippy, leftfield dubstep-not-dubstep. It doesn't get more "dubstep-not-dubstep" than Unto, a highlight from Piezo's LSD Superhero, his latest EP for the UK label. Over a stumbling, broken drum beat, Piezo lets a wobbly LFO bassline dig its way into the base of the track, an omnipresent rumble that feels like an earthquake in slow motion. On top are psychedelic drum patterns that move backwards and forwards at the same time, spinning in a dizzy loop. It's big but subtle, heavy as hell without bashing you over the head—and, most importantly, trippy as all get-out.
