- Levon Vincent goes minimal on a surprisingly speedy remix.
- Irish DJ Gavin Lynch, AKA Matador, is a staple of the post-minimal multiverse, with big basslines and even bigger build-ups. His latest EP is emotionally charged with fizzy synths and wistful arpeggios, the sort of thing you can easily imagine soundtracking an Ibiza montage. This makes Levon Vincent's remix of the title track even more unexpected. Vincent beefs up the whole thing, filling out the percussion section with a maze of snares and hats and pitching it up to 135 BPM. The melody only comes in flourishes which shifts the tone of the vocal refrain—"I'm going to wear you in the rain / I'm going to wear my yellow coat"—going from greeting card to something a bit more sinister. This isn't a side we hear from Vincent very often, but maybe we should.
