- Rave pianos, contemplative Moby chords, sweeping bass and even a sampled "hey!" for a good measure: Alt Fenster just about puts every crowd pleaser into the blender on "Clipeé," but it somehow works. An aural representation of his young age, the 22 year-old Madrid-born producer's debut EP for Hivern Discs is an infectious romp that combines old school rave's buoyancy without all the neon and progressive house's yearning without all the cleanliness.
Three remixes of the original round out the release with Mouseup following up Fenster on the A-side with a deep take that focuses on the bassline, and building the elements slowly into what almost becomes trance-y—if weren't so firmly rooted in house and had such an acidic melody line. d.a.r.y.l.'s slow-burning rework also uses the acid to great effect, but is content to stomp his way through things, while John Talabot aims for the heavens with an epic take that extends the original by three minutes and finds what sounds like a malfunctioning arpeggiator and gleefully abuses it for much of its length. Only a dance floor on the peak of an anthem need apply for its uses, but when you're dealing with such youthful exuberance these things tend to happen.
