A decision made in 2005 lit the fuse of the Myhouse-Yourhouse project, when creators Alex Traska and Erick Andersen pooled their resources and their passion for underground house, along with more forms of disco, funk, electronica, hip hop and broken beats than you could shake a drumstick at. The now internationally-respected Myhouse-Yourhouse web radio station continues to evolve as a global community of like-minded fans, DJs, producers and promoters, supported by a huge network of events around the US and UK and a record label of the same name. The diversity evident in the station’s output, the music played at the Myhouse-Yourhouse events and the selections from Alex himself are a reflection of a childhood that reverberated with the contrasting sounds of Steely Dan, 808 State, Roy Ayers, Kraftwerk, Rick James, Hugh Masekela, Stevie Wonder, KLF, Santana, Sergio Mendes and Chic. In 2001, landing a job at Nottingham’s legendary nightclub “The Bomb” immersed Alex in new and exciting music every week, played by some of the biggest names at the time, including Derrick Carter, Groove Armada, Tom Middleton, Justin Robertson and Nottingham’s very own DiY. Inspired by these performances and the fertile house local house scene, Alex spent the next ten years building putting work in behind the decks and behind the scenes at the rapidly growing MHYH community. Since the launch of MHYH, Alex has received press attention from the BBC and Channel 4, and has brought a variety of DJs, including Charles Webster, Move D, Linkwood, Atjazz, Chris Duckenfield and Demarkus Lewis to the turntables of the highly respected and well attended MHYH parties in Nottingham. As well residencies in London, Sheffield and recent gigs all over the UK and in Europe, he continues to play regularly across Nottingham, including his “Siesta Project” concept; a unique weekly test-bed for diversions into downtempo, laid-back selections with no genre barriers and a focus on programming rather than mixing and the brand new "A SPACESHIP" concept, gathering pace in 2011.
