Founder of Makaan Records.Anahita Shamsaei, a London-based underground Techno DJ and founder of Makaan Records, focuses on underrepresented SWANA+ and MENA region artists. Born in Sheffield, UK, and raised in Tehran, Iran, she holds a degree in Islamic history and Middle Eastern studies from SOAS. Anahita's passion for Techno led her to self-teach DJing, finding expression in the genre's inclusivity. Through her sets, she challenges patriarchal norms and advocates for visibility of all unseen and unheard artist in the music industry. With Makaan, she amplifies the presence and voices of SWANA+ artists, asserting their existence and breaking barriers in the music world.
