Inspired by earlier electronic groups like Kraftwerk, New Order, Orbital, The Shamen, 808 State, and Underworld, Andy James first started going to parties in 1998. Some of the DJs he saw that year included Adam Beyer, Marco Carola, Joel Mull, Christian Smith, Cari Lekebusch and Claude Young. At the time he had no idea who they were, but the records they were playing and the way they were mixing them definitely had an impact on him. Techno was infused in his blood and he needed a release. Andy started spinning records in 1999 and hasn't looked back since. Always known for rocking the hard and funky techno beats, Andy has risen to become one of the Midwests hardest working techno DJs. In 1999, after only spinning for 6 months, he competed and placed second out of eight DJs at the Atomic Battle of the DJs held at the Metropol, Pittsburghs largest club at the time - 800 people were in attendance for the finals! Some of the DJs/Producers Andy has played alongside are John Tejada, Dan Bell, 3 Channels, Ryan Crosson, Seth Troxler, Sleeparchive, Andy Vaz, Someone Else, Miskate, Damian Lazarus, Stacey Pullen, T-1000, Chris Liberator, Nigel Richards, Barry Weaver, Dustin Zahn, Ian Lehman, Adam Jay, Shawn Rudiman, and Dan Curtin amongst others. He has played/headlined at various weeklies, club events, parties, and radio shows in and around Ohio, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago, Austin, San Antonio, Edmonton, and various other cities around the East Coast & Midwest. With his 20+ released mixes, Andy has left a serious buzz around the global techno community. Andy's fast-paced mixing skills and unique technical style on 3 decks have allowed his DJ schedule to grow by the minute. Andy's talents extend far beyond the turntables as he has been producing original techno tracks since 2000. Just like Andy's DJ sets, his tracks are best described as hypnotic/peak time, pulsating/floor-shaking, and fist-pumping/driving, beats with dynamically sweeping breakdowns. In October 2007 Andy released the debut net-label release for Tek-Know entitled Ranos (TEK0001). Keep on the lookout for future tracks, collaborations, and remixes to be released on BerettaMusic, Polarized, Epicentrik, and Tek-Know. In February 2007 the formation of the Truck Stop Tourist project began with 1 Auxy. Combining raw live digital elements with the sonic depth of vinyl records, they craft live sets that seem to continuously build and morph live production, and dj'ing into sounds that ebb and flow from the speakers creating atmoshere, moodiness, and controlled chaos on the dancefloor. Listening to a TST set you will hear the newest music from producers across the globe twisted inside out, combined with classic tracks that seem to play hide and seek between the drum machines, synths, samples, loops, filters, and effects within Ableton Live 7 and the mixing skills of Andy James and 1 Auxy.
