  • Alexis Georgopoulos (b. 1974), known as Arp, is an artist, producer, DJ based in Brooklyn, New York.
As a matter of course, over the course of 10 albums as a solo artist and collaborator, Alexis Georgopoulos, aka Arp, has sounded radically different with each album and project, pursuing new concepts and occupying diverse mindsets, taking a fresh approach that jettisons convention, along the way drawing on elevated kosmische atmospheres, Minimalist classical composition, Sound Library, Glam, and leftfield disco influences. He has released music, as a solo artist and collaborator, with labels such as RVNG, Beats In Space, Mexican Summer, Smalltown Supersound, Type, Opal Tapes and Emotional Response and has been presented in gallery and museum contexts by MoMA PS1, BAM, The Kitchen, Deitch Projects, Walker Art Center, White Columns, MoMA, and the New Museum. He has collaborated with visual artists such as Tauba Auerbach, Matt Connors and Darren Bader. His music has been played by David Mancuso at his storied NYC party The Loft. He has made commissioned scores for Chanel, visual artist Doug Aitken, filmmaker Paul Clipson and choreographer Jonah Bokaer. A mutant offspring of diverse stylings, 2018’s expansive ZEBRA is a post-everything symbiosis of ancient to future psychotropics. Using forward-looking production techniques, ZEBRA is a vast, shimmering prospect, emphasizing points of connectivity, pleasantly disrupting outdated boundaries between musical traditions, hierarchies and genre politics.
