Afrohouse witch
AWEN’s music is for the soul. Embodying strength in both her voice and character,
AWEN confronts the complexities of love and loss, identity, and beauty fearlessly.
Transcending genres, AWEN’s music moves between soulful Afro-house and deep
spiritual trip hop. All of her songs are packed with raw emotion, inspired by the likes of
Nina Simone.
Singer, songwriter and live performer, AWEN comes from a culturally rich background.
Half French, half Senegalese, AWEN studied classical music in France for a decade in
her early years. In 2013, she moved to Asia to pursue her career as a lawyer in Hong
Kong but life had other plans for her. In 2016, after her dad passed away she decided
to quit law and chase her dream to become an artist. In 2019, she released her debut
solo EP while also collaborating with some of afro house’s rising stars such as Floyd
Lavine, Daniel Rateuke, Caiiro and Enoo Napa. Her music was quickly supported by
famous artists of the scene, starting with Black Coffee.
In three years, AWEN has released one solo album, 6 EP (collaborations) and scored 3
global hits: Your Voice, Gold, and Kusimama.
Building on those successes, AWEN is now working on new music with highly regarded
producers: Adam Port, Cristoph, Themba, Monkey Safari etc.
