  • Baffa. Is a Venezuelan Dj /Producer based in Barcelona, Spain. He has an extensive musical career on diverse aspects of the business such as djing, sound designing, and audio post-production.
Baffa´s musical incursions started at very young age, working as mobile DJ around Caracas, he was playing all sorts of popular music at the time, but felt strongly attracted to electronic music and club culture specifically when genres like Techno and Drum & Bass exploded in his native country around 1998. Following this new found calling, Baffa pursued a career as a Techno Dj which led him to land his first residency at the local cult venue “La Belle Époque”. Around this time he was already a skilled turntablist and so he was invited to become part of the group“Sur Carabela”, a musical project that broke through the Venezuelan mainstream audience by its unique take on electronic/experimental genres such as trip hop, hip hop, techno and ambient. He completed Audio Engineering studies in 2002, which allowed him to work on audio post production. This resulted in several credits as music composer and sound designer for important clients such as Coca Cola, Mc Donald’s, HBO Ole, AXN, Sony Entertainment Television among others. He was also a member of another musical project called “Chucknorris”, which allowed him to work with other recognized musicians on stage to bring a fusion of electronic music, hip hop, latin folk, and rock. These incursions proved to be successful with nominations to MTV Video Music Awards and touring around Latin America in the year 2006. Baffa remained relevant to the club culture by being one of the founder members of the techno collective “Teklab”, which pushed other unexplored genres locally such as minimal techno and electro, throwing popular parties and touring around his country. Also his name was being spread internationally with several productions on labels such as Safari Electronique, Stimulus Recordings, Regular Records among others. International stars such as Richie Hawtin, Mark Henning, Audiofly, Paul Mac, Ade Fenton & Umek among others supported his solo productions. In 2009 Baffa relocated to Barcelona, Spain. where he joined forces with fellow Venezuelan ex-pat Moreon to create the collaboration project “Moreon & Baffa”. They became well known on the Barcelona scene for their techno oriented Dj sets and original releases on respected labels such as Visionquest, Social Experiments, Subwax, and their own vinyl only imprint Budare Records. Currently he continues his solo career as producer, DJ and Audio Engineer.
