How long have you been producing / DJing? I've been producing since 2007/2008 making jungle, grime, electro, house, that kind of stuff. I only properly got on it and took it seriously since I got my Mac last year. I've been DJing since 2009 when me, Unitz and our mate Luke started Subspotting in the town where we live. Still to this day I don't own a pair of decks! Need to invest really... How did you get into the music in the first place? Well, I've always been into music. I remember listening to old hardcore tapes and being about nine or something buying a pair of old Gemini decks. I had no idea what I was doing with them but I remember having a copy of Krust's Jazz Note, my mum hated me for constantly playing it! Back in school I was always getting in trouble for having one headphone in my ear listening to jungle tape packs. I remember hearing Wot's My Code's Dubplate on a Congo Natty tape and I never knew what the tune was but I knew exactly where in the tape it was and it got rinsed! I found it a couple years later and it's still a favourite to this day! So I guess it's just from music being an everyday part of my life since I was young. What music are you currently feeling both in and outside of dubstep? I've been listening to a lot of 'future garage' 2steppy kinda vibes recently, artists like Synkro, Dark Sky, Phaeleh, Pariah and, obviously, Burial. I've also been listening to lots of Autonomic stuff. I love sitting down and changing up the tempo now and again plus it's a good way to avoid writers block! What do you think influences your sound? I think my main influence for my music is my mood, things that happen around me, nights out, listening to radio, taking a walk and watching people around me living there life, general life stuff really. Obviously I take influence from other kinds of music and other artists, say if I hear a tune and I'm feeling it that will influence me to get on a similar vibe, any kind of music really, jungle, garage, dnb, grime, house... What are you currently working on in the studio? I got an iMac running Logic Pro and some broke up old Alesis Prolinear 720s (only one of them has mid & low freqs). Plugins I use mainly are Exs24, Camel Plugins, Native Instruments and Rob Papen. What are your plans for the rest of 2011? My album should be about end of summer on Wheel & Deal. Few more releases on there such as Smash That Badger, New - Ro - Phen, 2020 and Zardoz. Apart from that I'm just going to carry on building tunes, DJing and collaborating as much as possible.
