  • Breach is the house and techno alias of Ben Westbeech.
Having released 2 LPs as Ben Westbeech on Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings and Strictly Rhythm respectively, Ben debuted under the house and techno alias ‘Breach’ in 2010. Initially intended as a home for the rough and ready club music Ben was making, the release of the ‘Fatherless’ EP on PTN dropped in the September of 2010 and was quick to receive acclaim from critics and peers alike. The anticipated follow up was released in the Summer of 2013 on Dirtybird Records, a solo EP entitled ‘Jack’. The single took off from the moment it debuted, reaching a sought after 9th spot on the UK Official Top 40 Chart. In the same year, Breach released ‘Everything You Never Had (We Had It All)’ with Andreya Triana, which also climbed to No.9 in the official chart, then peaked at No. 2 in the official UK Dance chart. His 2012 established label Naked Naked has released an impressive selection of music from Midland, Cinnaman, Dark Sky, Dusky, Lorca and Viers. In turn the label has received consistent support from the likes of George Fitzgerald, Gilles Peterson, Marcel Dettmann and beyond. Aside from releasing on his own label, Breach has also had historical releases on Ramp/PTN, Pets Recordings, Dirtybird, 2020 Vision and Will Saul’s Aus Music. In 2013, he curated a DJ Kicks mix, showcasing his musical breadth with a selection of tracks embodying his eclectic tastes within house and techno as Breach. In the same year, he created an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1, following and leading up to well-received mixes for Fact, Boiler Room, Mixmag and Fabriclive. After a production hiatus to focus on extensive touring, 2018 saw the return of Breach to Naked Naked, with two new EPs entitled ’Culture’ and ‘Turtle Dance’. Parallel to the dancefloor music created under his Breach alias, Ben Westbeech explores a broader spectrum of genres via his bi-weekly Red Light Radio show. His ‘Wrong Planet’ show dives into the realms of jazz, psych-rock, soul, folk, disco and everything in between. He regularly plays a diverse range of shows, and has also featured as a vocalist with Henrik Schwarz and the Metropole Orchestra in theatres around Europe. As one of the most knowledgable, versatile and practiced musicians around, Ben Westbeech’s next move is always highly anticipated.
