- Together as Broodlings, Danny Fernandez and Bretson Mann are passionate producers and DJs from Atlanta, GA. While preserving past sounds in house, techno and broken beat electronic music, they bring a modernized sound to today's underground dance music..Comprised of Atlanta natives Danny Fernandez and Bretson Mann, Broodlings is a project that melds retrospective production values with a modern, eclectic undertone. While their influences encompass everything from Detroit Techno and Chicago House to UK Funky and Dubstep, their music is not so simply defined by a constricting genre label. Their debut release on Embassy Recordings – a five-track collection under the name Hood Rat Stuff – earned reinforcing feedback from both the house and broken beat communities alike. While the Juke-tempo tracks featured classic percussion arrangements akin to their footwork forefathers, deeper melodies, focused bass tones and thoughtful engineering give this release more of a contemporary feel. Following their debut hometown release, Fernandez and Mann landed themselves appropriately on Jass' Companion 1 alongside local peers REKchampa and Divine Interface. The pair recently embarked on a new monthly event that specializes on vinyl DJing of house and techno, hopefully eluding to future Broodlings releases on wax.
