  • Coltrane is a South African music producer and remixer from Middelburg, most notable for remixing the likes of Jovonn, Groove Assassin and Sacha Williamson as well being the founder of CX Recordings. He is also one half of the house band “Two Of A Kind”
He was born into a family of musicians where he began performing with choirs, from kindergarten to Sunday school and to managing a boy’s choir in high school. Coltrane admits that he hated singing even though he was good at it. His grandfather and uncle were record collectors, which slowly pushed him towards music production. In 2005 he was invited to a local community radio station to do a guest mix, which heavily included songs by DJ Cleo. In early 2007, Coltrane began producing electro house with Cubique DJ, initially even working on their first unofficial compilation album. In late 2007, Coltrane then partnered with Rufus to form the house music band “Two Of A Kind”, the duo produced their first untitled album, which led to the release of their first single “Drums of Congo”. The single was instead released as an EP including an extended remixed version of the song. Followed by several EPs between 2008-2009 including “Ancestral Roots” & “Swazi Dance”. Their breakthrough came in 2010 when they released “Illusions of Life”. Upon hearing it, then A&R at Sync Recordings (New York) selected and re-issued the EP during the Winter Music Conference of the same year. It received wide praise from several well-known DJs and went on to be the duo’s best selling EP to date. 2011-present… Coltrane’s music caught the attention of Canadian record executive Andy Roberts, who recruited him to remix for his label Mixed Signals Music. In 2012, his remix for house legend Jovonn on “Talkin’ Shhh” made it to Signals: Miami 2012 sampler along with music by the likes of Marlon D, Boddhi Satva, Roy Davis Jr. and Alton Miller. By the end of 2012, Coltrane had remixed Groove Assassin, a house classic by Eskalation with Sacha Williamson titled “Breakthru” and DJN Project with E-man and Charles McDougald. Coltrane also signed a single release deal with Nulu Music, a New York City label half owned by Little Louie Vega’s wife Anane.
