Born in Toronto Canada, Conrad Nowak a.k.a. Conrad (CA) emerged from the cities underground house scene in 2011. In his earlier years his musical preference was strictly classic 90’s hip-hop. The rolling 808 drums and melodic current became the stepping-stone for his conception, comprehension, and more importantly passion for electronic music. Looking up to and influenced both professionally and personally by such artists as The Junkies, Chris Larsen, Nathan Barato and Carlo Lio, he was exposed to a variety of styles of electronic music and sank his teeth into the Deep Tech resonance. Having the opportunity to begin performing live DJ sets at the legendary Comfort Zone, Conrad’s crunching claps, engulfing baselines and groovy vocals were soon easily distinguishable in a flooded city of sounds. Throughout 2011-2014 Conrad consistently continued to emit his sound vibrating through such Toronto venues as The Guvernment, Footwork, Ryze and the much anticipated CODA. During this time he’s been humbled to have been able to perform alongside artists he has long been inspired by such as, Davide Squillace, Tale Of Us, Martin Buttrich, Dubfire, Philip Bader, tINI, Chad Andrew and Randall M. In 2013, Conrad having a serious itch for production, his impulse drove him to indulge into what can easily be turned into addiction. Mentored by The Junkies and Chris Larsen, it was clear Conrad had something inside him the world needed to hear. In January 2014, Conrad had the honour of breaking the border and was added to the artists of The BPM Festival in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Shortly after that he released his debut EP titled Discrimination, on Yoruba Grooves, which topped off at #3 on Beatports Minimal Top 100 Releases. Being taken under the wing of Toronto’s Platform and with a mind flowing with inspiration, Conrad is sure to continue to deliver on both spectrums.
