  • Cyantist is a Dutch Progressive Techno act, that consists of Igor Dolfing, Victor Hoffmann and Roger Lutter. They deliver a rich sound by combining Digital / Analogue. Cyantist's sound not only works on the dancefloors, but also challenges the mind.
Igor and Victor first crossed paths in 2014 at a techno party called Paradigm, in their hometown of Groningen. Bonding over melodic techno and much else besides, the duo began producing releases for the melodic techno label Aftertech Records based in Amsterdam shortly after. Eager not to repeat themselves, Cyantist is always on a mission to continuously discover new experimental and innovative sounds suitable for the dancefloor. The duo is known for crafting melancholic anthems like “The March of April”, techno with a groovy and mysterious vibe such as “Nomad” and is brave enough to remake Clint Mansell’s legendary classical composition “Requiem for a Dream” into uplifting melodic techno. Throughout Cyantist’s discography, one thing is always present: with each release they challenge not only the body, but the mind as well. Although the similarities between Igor and Victor is what draw them together, it’s the differences between them that complement each other into something special. During live performances Igor focuses on challenging melodic mixing, while throwing some occasional mashups. Meanwhile Victor teases the audience with the subtle use of additional effects from external hardware. They show their audience again and again how exciting techno can be. Having multiple releases and mixes on their name now, Victor and Igor desired to expand their crafting and live experience by the use analogue synthesizers. In this pursuit they met Roger, a creative mind and experienced in the analogue scene. With his perspective on electronic music and involvement in the analogue world, he turned out to be the perfect ingredient to complete the Cyantist formation. Especially during live events Roger adds to the set by creating on the spot melodies that blend in perfectly. As a consequence the tracks get a unique character, but not only that, also the transitions between them become very captivating. The aforementioned can only be crafted by soaking up inspiration in music and literature. These influences range from electronic music such as Extrawelt, Max Cooper, Worakls, Tale of Us, Stephan Bodzin and The Prodigy, to contemporary classic composers such as Nils Frahm and Ludovico Einaudi. Nassim Taleb's 'Antifragile' and Jordan Peterson's '12 Rules for Life' are great inspiration for them to continuously work to challenge and better themselves, in music and in every other aspect of their lives. Cyantist's sound has resulted in multiple releases on Aftertech Records, Cinematique, Clinique, Baroque, SoundMute and Techgnosis.
