- DAEGA SOUND is a production and performance duo based on the West Coast of Canada that focuses on bass music in primarily the 140 and 170 BPM ranges.Daega Sound have their own unique take on creating dubstep and dance music. Driven solely by their lifelong love of music, they are steadily laying a foundation of releases and performances gaining national and international critical acclaim in the ever-evolving bass music scene. Their sound is polished and sophisticated, with a dubbed out quality and heavy emphasis on sub bass. Intricate syncopated drum rhythms laced with unforgettable melodies sit on top of layers of ethereal soundscapes, creating an unmistakable atmosphere. Their works have a definitive place in every DJs record crate. Since their first release in ʻ08 and debut performance at the premier New Forms Festival, Daega has established a vital presence in the shaping and development of the bass music scene on the West Coast and rest of Canada. Releases out on Black Box, TUBA NYC, Muti Music, Interchill, Mutek, CX:Digital, Fathom, Echodub, DPR, Formant, King Deluxe,Thoughtless, Car Crash Set, Blipswitch. They enjoy solid support from notables TRUTH, COMMODO, Sam Binga, Loxy, RSD, Appleblim, Spherix, OM Unit, Joe Nice, DJ Thinking, Phaeleh, Walsh, DJG, Headhunter, Mary Anne Hobbs, Mr Scruff and local heavy hitters. Mary Anne Hobbs and Mr. Scruff have both aired Daegaʼs works on BBC Radio 1. Daega Sound is not just known for the sophisticated bass music works, but also for the brosʼ heavy hitting Live PA and DJ performances. Their DJ sets are a mix of their own works and from a very select few producers. Their high energy sets have a distinct techno quality meshed with a “classic” dubstep sound, ranging from banging drum machine driven rhythms to massive half-time hitters to rich evocative and soulful tunes. Having their roots in the Dnb world in the late ’90s and the turn of the century have been bringing those vibes back into their sets. Their Live PA sets bend reality.
