It's only a very exclusive, artist elite that has successfully traversed the last two musical decades while remaining both relevant and innovative throughout. Dave Congreve is without doubt part of this select. From kick-starting pivotal nights at Venus in the early 90s - Dave went onto help shape the post acid-house clubbing era in the Midlands, predominantly through his residency and programming role at seminal Nottingham club The Bomb. During this six year stint he recruited and span alongside: Derrick Carter, Laurent Garnier, Andrew Weatherall, Derrick May, Carl Craig and Harvey quickly earning him a reputation as one of the finest and most important residents in the UK. Dave then moved to London in 1999, and his famed fortitude and guile saw him further solidify his position at the forefront of the house and techno scene. Soon he was playing everywhere from big clubs such as generation Mecca Fabric, Back2Basics, Pressure and the SubClub in Glasgow, The End and cult East-End haunt - T-Bar; to parties on Dalston’s infamous basement underground and for legendary day of rest re-writers – SecretSundaze. This in turn saw him lap up numerous guest slots across Europe including the hallowed Ibiza, various spots in Paris, and the Loft and industry favourite, the Sonar Festival in Barcelona. Being summoned by such varied and equally poignant musical enclaves is certainly quality's testament. Musically, his habitual kinship with such a breadth of DJ talent means nailing Dave's sound isn't all that easy – simply because he tackles a barrage of styles with serious aplomb. Deep and techy; tracky and percussive; melodic and textured – are all key traits that pepper his sets – but one thing that never escapes attention is the vehement energy and atmosphere that's forever present. But while it's behind he decks where Dave is most commonly found, an unbridled appetite for all things sonic have led him into the world of production too, most notably with his critically acclaimed off kilter techno project Repeat/Repeat. And with his creative hunger growing all the time, Dave's now become something of a permanent fixture in the studio, committing tunes to underground stable sovereignty like - Soma, Leftroom and Rotters Golf Club - constantly indulging his lust to rub shoulders with a vast melting pot of musical minds. Latest projects combine his talents remixing for the legendary Andrew Weatherall and exciting new material with Marc Ashken and Steve Boardman. But his love for delivering nocturnal punters their future music fix hasn't dwindled one bit. 2010 sees Dave regularly spinning at London’s most prestigious venues and continuing his residency at Nottinghams Stealth which is now entering it’s 6th year. So with a torrent of ear-pricking projects on the boil it looks as though Dave is entering the most exciting phase of his career to date.
