- DAVEM is an eclectic visionary artist. He is a electronic-jazzy Musician and Painter.DAVEM comes from the world of skate/snowboarding culture. He wanted to become a professional freestyle snowboarder and in part, succeeded, but after a knee injury (now he does it just for passion), he had to take things slower. He tries to transform the tricks done on asphalt and snow in his art forms. He became a music producer through his enthusiasm and the constant research of new ways of communication, after venturing into painting and graphic art, preferring primitive and essential signs, which were sometimes inspired from a frail and tortuous inner exploration. MUSIC : Davem grew up with hip hop, trip-hop, jazz, acid-jazz, and electronic music listening to every kind of music that is well made. He started to compose without any particular artistic inspiration, using just an impulse to create a sound with a strong personality. His way of working is very instinctive and dynamic. The creation of sounds sampled from the obscure situations of real life are important to his work. Davem is attracted and interested in collaborating with jazz instrumental musicians with an experimental open mind. For him music creation is a timeless magical moment, meditation. He attended the prestigious School of Saluzzo specialising as a technician of music for interactive digital arts. In 2008, he produced the “Believe” EP on vinyl for the famous Parisian label Karat, then also another EP titled Autumn on the German imprint Spontan Musik. He has also worked with the Italian label Exprezoo Records providing a remix for Alexxei n’ Nig. In January 2012, he put out True love featuring Diego Grassedonio, an internationally recognised sax player. His collaboration with Grassedonio continues in a audio-video live project called Davem+D_ego A/V live show where fine electronic music interplays with jazz improvisation of the saxophone. The visuals mixed live on stage by a VJ are created by Davem. They are original artworks and paintings animated in stop motion. The mission is to unite music and paint by the same artist in a single show. His ability to attract the attention led him to perform in some of the most important Italian festivals including Traffic Festival and Club to Club. He is selected by the jury of Piemonte Groove. His eclecticism leads him to want complete sound with images. He wants to combine music and painting. His musical releases are complemented by its artworks printed on record covers. PAINT: He has been active for years in the Turin's paint scene and presents his works in different situations and creates his own style. Acrylics, markers, oil pastels draw lines create fantastic characters and primitive colored faces. His painting is a visual representation of the form of the abstract soul: when the heart and mind are connected they create a short circuit energy, the human body struggles to contain and spills onto the canvas. He worked as graphic designer for a famous street-fashion brand in Turin, drawing pictures to be printed on clothes. 2k by Gingham (Los Angeles), one of the most prestigious brands of “Artist t-shirts” of the world with famous artists like Barry McGee, David Shrigley, Devendra Banhart, Jeremyville, Matt Furie, Yoko Ono are interested in his drawings. He has realised for them six designs in three different collections, distributed in stores around the world and still available on online shops. Thanks to this 2k collaboration he participated with international artists like Barry McGee, David Shrigley, Buro Destruct, Devendra, JeremyVille and more to a collective exhibition at New Art Image Gallery, Los Angeles CA(West Hollywood) in february 2010. He debuted with his project “CARDBOARDBOX” at Orfane 30 gallery in Turin Italy. That personal exhibition was a success. In september 2014 Galo Art Gallery, the best street art gallery in Turin, is interested in his works and organises a personal Davem paint exhibition. During the event he also played his original audio/video live performance. He is noticed and chosen by Emita Frigato famous Italian designer, to create the setting of the new film by Francesco Amato. The work realized, 3×9 m, will be present in some key scenes of the film. His designs appear on Rivalta's skatepark. His eclecticism leads him to want complete sound with images. He wants to combine music and painting. His musical releases are complemented by its artworks printed on record covers.
