    Patrick Doan is a Montréal-born Canadian 3d artist based in Berlin, Germany. With a background in design, film, and architecture, he now focuses on dynamic 3d real-time graphics, live performance, music video, installations, streaming, etc. He has been publishing his graphic works under the username ‘‘defasten’’ since 2002. Working mainly in the events/arts/music industry, his future-facing visual designs exist as audio reactive, generative, deconstructed geometric objects, establishing a simulated digital reality. Patrick has exhibited in 25 countries, including online. He has shown work at The New Museum (NYC, 2010), Ars Electronica (2013) CTM Cyberia 2021 (Xquisite Force SFX) and Transmediale 2007 (Berlin), with Suguru Goto at WWW (Tokyo, 2016), MIRA 2021 with Azu Tiwaline (Barcelona), BRDG Channel 22 with Yaporigami (Tokyo, 2020), SIGGRAPH 2006. With the sonic research collective AUDINT co-founded by Toby Heys (SODA MMU) and Steve Goodman (Kode9, Hyperdub, CCRU), they showed work at Unsound (2019), MIRA (2019), Tate Britain/Modern and Arebyte (London), Sonar Istanbul (2017), Loop Berlin (2016), MUTEK Montreal (2015), including releasing publications on MIT Press and Urbanomic (Unsound:Undead). He also gave talks and workshops: MOUVO 2022 (Prague), Touch Designer Roundtable XVIII (Berlin, 2022), Cultural Center 3331 (Tokyo, 2016). Patrick’s work is featured in the book The Age of Data curated by designer Christoph Grünberger, and published on Swiss design/architecture label Niggli Verlag (2021). It includes works by 40 artists like Refik Anadol, Daito Manabe, Joshua Davis (Praystation), Joëlle, Christopher Bauder (Dark Matter), Quayola, Nonotak, and more. With foreword by Ian Anderson (The Designer’s Republic).
