Currently resident at London and Ibiza hedonists Pukka Up, as well as Hed Kandi’s more discerning sister showcase Stereo Sushi (most notably at their monthly Dubai parties at N'Dulge (Previously Sanctuary Nightclub). He also promotes and DJs at his own event the Manchester based Rude, and has previously been at the helm for Miss Moneypennys and Kinky Malinki. His incredible two decade spanning journey has seen him play across the globe, counting Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Poland, France, Switzerland, Ireland, Majorca, Lanzarote and Ibiza amongst the destinations blessed by his beats. For Pukka Up he has continually played for their numerous MTV tours, recorded and broadcast throughout the U.K. and Europe on MTV Dance, and his Ibizan presence is so strong he regularly plays at three of the islands most famous and iconic venues; Space, Es Paradis and El Divino. And that’s not even mentioning the carnage wrecked on the high seas as part of the legendary Sunset cruise boat parties. On top of these he can also point to appearances at high profile events like Chuff Chuff, Ultima, On a Plate at Haigh Hall and festival like Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, Zoothousand Festival and Planet Love Ireland. Oz is nothing if not prolific. His expansive take on house music, drifting eloquently between soulful grooves, vocal anthems and delightful deep beats, represents why he remains such a potent draw after all this time. Technically capable of playing over three decks (with all the tricks, acapella usage and technological nous needed), he’s not once forgotten the most important component in everything; the crowd. It’s why his latest technological development, incorporating Ableton Live into his sets to remix and re-edit records on the fly, positions his brilliant mix of cutting edge relevance with old school knowledge and prowess. Certainly no johnny come lately mixing the latest beatport charts whilst looking like he’s checking his emails, Oz’s vibrant energy remains undiluted behind the format. Blending the beats of today and tomorrow’s dancefloors with the vocals and melodies of the records that have stood the test of time, he blurs the lines between producer and DJ but in a manner which doesn’t weigh too heavily on the clubbing experience. Never drowning his sets in needless technical tricks, whether warming up slowly, playing an anthem crammed peak time offering or a longer set encompassing it all, Oz has the versatility and experience to deliver the results every single time. It’s why he can boast of a 95% repeat booking rate and a legion of fans across the globe. Always the consummate professional, his crowd pleasing style never fails to gift a dancefloor the impetus and success it deserves. Oz’s thirst for dance music couldn’t have developed in stronger surroundings. As a wide eyed youth in the early nineties, he began his clubbing tutelage in the Hacienda, as well as nearby US House party ‘Out in the Sticks’ in nearby Todmorden. Completely bitten by the bug he started Rude in 1994. As debut promotions go it didn’t do too badly; the event is still running in Manchester to this day after celebrating its 17th birthday in riotous form at Sankeys in September 2011. And like the clubnight that he has helped create, Oz is himself in rude health. Currently working on some productions with good friend Jason Herd, he’s taking his passion for the floor into the studio and already delivering results that have impressed the best ears in the business. Add to that a day job running a highly successful events and artists management agency and you’re talking about an artist who understands the machinations of the music long beyond the dancefloor. But it’s behind the decks where he will always be at his most comfortable. His innate mixture of global experience with gregarious energy, current music with classic mainstays, and technical wizardry with thundering work-rate makes him an irrepressible exponent of dancefloor dynamite. Year after year he continues to get better, and with more residencies and gigs in the pipeline the next chapters in this illustrious story are well on their way to being written. There’s very few DJs that manage to stand the test of time and still stay relevant in a crowded marketplace, but Oz fits resolutely into that category. Having seen the dancefloor evolve, he’s stayed true to the principles that has served DJs so well whilst absorbing every exciting new development. A New school sound with an old school approach, Oz remains as on the money musically as he was when he first started, and encompasses everything a modern DJ should be. Quite simply, he’s the epitome of dancefloor dynamite.
