But that’s just what has happened to So, the Japanese DJ who has been resident there since he was 22, and who is also heavily involved with the production of the festival. It’s his tasteful DJ sets which have won him real acclaim: famed for his deep house and techno storytelling ability, smooth mixes and bottomless well of music, he has been honing his craft since 18 years of age. 20 years on, he has played Fuji Rock Festival, Boom in Portugal and Rainbow Serpent and Strawberry Fields in Australia. He has also toured the EU twice in 2017 and turned in one of the most talked about sets at Nachtdigital 2016. All in all, then, So is an accomplished DJ with his own seductive and singular sound. 仙台で生まれ育ち、幼少から12年に渡ってクラシックピアノを習得した後、18歳でDJを始める。その後22歳で”The Labyrinth”のレジデントDJとして抜擢され、このきっかけが後のキャリアを大きく変えて行く。Labyrinthは今年17年目を迎え、今や日本を代表するクオリティの野外フェスティバルとしてその名を世界中に轟かせる中、DJとして表舞台に立つだけでなく、裏方としてパーティーのプロダクションにも大きく貢献して来た。 奥行きのある選曲と、安定感のあるスムーズなミックスで淡々と展開されるDJスタイルは、旋律と共に疾走感と高揚感を増し、セット全体でひとつのストーリーとして完結する。このスタイルを長年貫き、確固たるアイデンティティを築き上げた。 若くから評価され、ポルトガル(Boom Festival)、オーストラリア(Rainbow Serpant / Strawberry Fields)、を始め世界各国で多くの檜舞台を経験し、Fuji Rock Festival 2014にもDJとして出演。これまで積み上げて来たキャリアは実に多岐に渡る。また昨年はドイツでもアンダーグランド系のフェスとして絶大な人気を博し続けているNachtdigitalに出演。そのセットが欧州の各方面で話題を呼び、今年の夏も2度に渡るヨーロッパツアーが決定。活躍の場は更にグローバルに広がり、DJキャリア20年目という節目を迎える中、大きな躍進を遂げている。
