- The South African Born, Now Living his Dream in the UK "getting people to dance and have a good time on his Unique Style Of Techno Beats"Warrenton, in the Northern Cape, South Africa, is not exactly renowned for its club scene. For aspiring DJ and music producer, DJ ZAfricA, establishing himself in the world of electronic music was a labor of love. He started attending venues such as the Springbok Night Club in Kimberley and 6 Miles Club in Petersburg, driving up to 12 hours to attend these establishments but these venues did not give him access to the type of music he had the greatest affinity with. So Lee decided that in order to fully explore the music he was most passionate about, he would have to leave South Africa and visit places where techno was more widely appreciated. At the age of 29, DJ ZAfricA moved to the UK where he got in touch with London Sound Academy. After completing their Advanced and Elite DJ Course, under the tutelage of some of the finest DJs in London, his talent and passion for techno began to shine through. DJ ZAfricA currently plays at some of the UK’s best-known venues such as EGG, Ministry Of Sound, Bankside Vaults as well as overseas in Poland at clubs such as Protokultura Gdańsk & Luzztro in Warsaw and last but not least at Springbok Night Club, 6Miles Night Club & Die Duif Club in South Africa. DJ ZAfricA is an advanced & Elite course graduate at London Sound Academy in London – UK. “I highly recommend London Sound Academy to everyone looking to learn how to DJ or to further polish their skills, a great DJ community & great Tutors to say the least”! Currently releasing some of his own tracks thanks to Deepdowndirty Records and Compound Audio. DJ ZAfrica also hosts a weekly radio show at House 559 Music. “I have always loved music,” says DJ ZAfricA, “I started at the age of 11 playing with cassette tapes and rock music, is has taken me over 10 years to get my first proper gigs and start doing what I love. I do this because it brings all people together and I love seeing people have a great time. Everyone and anyone can play music, you just have to believe in yourself – something that I lacked.”
