    Dr Bob Jones' career in the music business started in May 1967, His music policy was, as it is now, the highest quality Black Music, featuring Soul, Dance and Jazz, and he has been recognised worldwide as one of the first DJs ever to play Jazz to a dance floor as early as 1971. In 1979 he was instrumental in DJing at the Worlds first ever Soul and Jazz Dance Weekender at Caister in Norfolk, England, and went on to play at 24 Caisters. Since then he has played in numerous Clubs and Venues across England, Europe and the World In 1987 Bob DJd at the first Southport Dance Weekender, started by Northern club promoter Alex Lowes. This event has gained full respect from the music industry worldwide and recently completed its 20th year anniversary with Bob Jones spinning on all 44 weekenders! In 1990 he was approached by the American music giant Motown Records, to remix and additionally produce a record by The Temptations. The result was a credible dance record and an international hit The Jones’s. Since then Bob has produced over 30 different artists including Al Green, Daryl Hall, Swing Out Sister, Izit, Squeeze, and Bobby Womack. He has also given his expertise on the history of Black Music consulting and starring in Lenny Henrys New Soul Nation on Televisions Channel 4 in 1994 and was also Music Consultant to BBC 2s Late Show on The British Black Music Industry in 1995, and has just completed a film treatment for A History of UK Black Music. Apart from his producing, recording, record label and DJing activities, Bob Jones is the Soul correspondent for Muzik magazine (voted music magazine of the year 1995/96/97) with a monthly readership over 40.000, and is one of the founder members of The British RnB (Rhythm & Blues) Association - The BRBA. In October 1993 Bob started his own club night called The Surgery in London's west end and every Saturday for nearly 2 years the club was full, winning Best Soul Club in the UK and in December 1995 he opened an a successful Soulful dance night at the Bluenote club in London's Hoxton Square. The night is called LIFT and is already being given top marks by the music media and critics. It features some of the UK's top underground DJs such as Harvey, The Idjut Boys, Harri, Glenn Gunner and Phil Asher and has contributed to Bob winning Best British Club DJ for 95,96, & 97. In July 1996 he was asked to play at Universes Tribal Gathering a massive dance attracting over 30.000 clubbers, and again Bob appeared at the same event in May 1997. He also appeared at Universe, Creamfields and V98 Festivals in 1998. Also, in December /96 Bob was headhunted by top UK dance club Hard Times to appear as a monthly resident at their venue in Leeds. The residency lasted for 18 months. Over the last 20 years, he has compiled Albums and written sleeve notes for various Major record labels in the field of Black Music, including Sony/Epic Records in Japan after an invited 10 day DJing tour there in 1994. Bob compiled a 90s Soul LP for Beechwood Music, the company responsible for the highly successful Mastercuts LP series (normal sales are 40,000+), also an anthology Album entitled Stop and Listen Volume 1 (Barely Breaking Even Records), was released to celebrate Bob's amazing 30 years as a DJ (in May 1997) and has put together the immensely successful Soul Spectrum - (with Keb Darge) and Jazz Spectrum albums for the immensely successful Barely Breaking Even imprint (again sales in excess of 10,000) also compiled 'Inspirational Dance' LP for Slip n Slide Records (released May/99), has written sleeve notes for various labels including Universal, Beechwood, & Counterpoint. It's all this, that has earned him the reputation of being one of the worlds leading authorities on the subject of Black Music. It was a natural progression for Bob Jones to form his own record label - Black on Black Records and to build a credible catalogue of high quality Black Music primarily using British singers, songwriters, and musicians. The label, started in October 1993 has released 14 singles all of which have been licensed to 3rd party record labels for inclusion on various artists' albums for release in Europe and the rest of the world. One of the artists Camelle Hinds to JVC in Japan, with the release of 1 single and an album in Japan, last year. Also The Jaziac Sunflowers are now recording as Aquasky with Moving Shadow, and The Hightower Set for Passenger. In October 1996 Bob Jones returned to studio production completing a project under the alias of Universal Jones with lifetime friend and record producer Ashley Beedle, released to much acclaim on Ashley's Afro Art label, and in February 1997 finished another dance project East West Connection with another DJ friend - Lofty , and recorded a credible cover of Teddy Pendergrass soul classic The More I Get The More I Want for Chilli Funk Records for release in June / 97 Making a conscious decision, in the latter part of 97 to continue as a Record Producer, Bob has teamed up with longtime colleague Lofty from Chilli Funk and Flying Records - London and is at present recording and producing as East West Connection, & Raw Cuts as well as DJing at his Club nights – Lift & The Surgery and is in-house DJ with Terry Callier on his acclaimed UK tours. Bob Jones has won awards in the Music Press for Best Radio Presenter on his Radio show especially for his in-depth interviews with top soul singers Terry Callier, Jill Scott, Millie Jackson, Will Downing, Isaac Hayes, and Kerri Chandler, Jerome Sydenham amongst others. His radio show 'The Surgery' was, until January 1999, on London's Kiss 100fm and Bob also contributes a weekly slot on Finland's Radio Mafia. For 4 years from 1999 to Oct 2004 Dr Jones has also worked as a presenter for BBC London 94.9fm ( old GLR 94.9 London Radio), with his own weekly 'Surgery' and also standing in for the likes of Norman Jay, Ross Allen & Kevin Le Gendre. Recent radio work has included Brighton’s Juice Fm, 2005/06 and internet shows on Samurai Fm ( monthly mix), Future Beat Radio (2007-2008) and London’s Colourful Radio (Sky 0194), with a weekly 3 hour ‘Surgery’ show (2008). He now presents his 2 hour weekly ‘Surgery’ Sundays for www.mi-soul.com Has compiled 2x Hot Sauce & 2 x True Spirit albums for Chilli Funk, Jazz Spectrum 2 for Barely Breakin Even and remix duties for Irma Records (Italy), Soulcamp Records (Berlin), Flower Records (Tokyo) and Sfere Records (New York). His DJ activities have earned him high reputation at Homelands Dance Festival for Bud Ice and he has worked across the globe in the last 20 years playing regularly @ The Loop - Tokyo, Kerma (Helsinki), Fusion (Stockholm), Spirit & Ericson parties (Tallin) and eclectic gigs in Ottowa & Toronto, a residency in Soulsides in Cork, and making regular appearances in Finland, Germany, Sweden and Norway his busy working schedule was 45 weeks out of 52,as well as Chilli Funk Parties in the UK. He completed a 6 day tour of Sweden to help launch A Collection of Fusion Soul Classics Album for Disco Stockholm's Fusion Club. His UK residencies included LIFT at London's Herbal Club, THE SURGERY @ London’s Bridge & Tunnel as well as a permanent resident of the much revered Southport Dance Weekender for over 22 years. Bob has recorded and produced projects for Chilli Funk, including Various Artists Compilations TRUE SPIRIT & HOT SAUCE 2 with Lofty - also the second Album for East West Connection 'Nothing Can Hold Us Back'. East West Connection have successful played live in Berlin, and at sell out gigs at London's Jazz Cafe, also sell-out gigs at London’s Cargo , The Lemon Tree / Aberdeen, & the Les Belle Angele/Edinburgh . TRUE SPIRIT (released early 2000) inc tracks from Sfere, Guidance & Large Records (USA),File (Japan), Lumi (Finland), Estereo (UK), & HOT SAUCE 2, with Lofty - also the second Album for East West Connection'Nothing Can Hold us Back', during which time Lofty and Bob wrote 'Tomorrow in Your Eyes' with their friend from Chicago - Mr Terry Callier who is a guest collaborator on their new album. Lofty and Bob have also released the much acclaimed 'Sound Travels' debut album from the highly talented Jazz musician Nathan Haines (for Chilli Funk Records). Recent recording duties have included a new track ‘HIGH ON LIFE’ from EAST WEST CONNECTION, featuring DANIEL VACCHIO of VACEO fame. This single is the 50th release for CHILLI FUNK RECORDS OUT IN JAN 2003. Also BOB has a self penned & produced track for THE INTERNS entitled SOULFOOD for release on CHILLI FUNK FEB 2003 , which also saw anb international release for POJI Records (USA) and has written and produced another INTERNS cut with international percussionist & DJ SNOWBOY released via Chillifunk Records. Bob was also chosen to DJ at the opening of the new CULTURE CENTER in St Petersburg, Russia in Nov /01 and also returned for the city’s NU JAZZ Festival alongside musician NATHAN HAINES and his band in JUNE 2002. The year 2003 saw Dr BOB JONES DJ at THE GIJON SOUL FESTIVAL in March and he also makes another return to Tenerife in May for a 3rd successive appearance at the island’s INSPIRACION CANARIES FESTIVAL in playing to an audience of over 11,000 black music lovers! 2005 he played at Queen Beatrix birthday in the Hague to an incredible 30,000 audience. In 2006 he was invited to play for 2 days at the acclaimed Big Chill Festival in the UK and 2007 saw the good doctor celebrate 40 years in the music business as a DJ. His enthusiasm for quality Black Music still takes him across the globe with recent sell out appearances in Shanghai, Moscow, Hamburg and Tobago.
