- London based groove builder, live performer, crate digger, vibes bringerA trained jazz keyboard player and professional audio engineer makes for a completely unique meeting of musicianship and sound design. It is the merging of these two elements which gives us the signature sound of Duncan Thomas. Tom has performed under many names, notably, Size 8, TR and with his jazz band the TR trio. Tom emerged with the alias Duncan Thomas this year to create a platform to release quality underground music which rooted itself to the dance floor rather than the jazz bar. It was also an opportunity for Tom to make music for the club, whilst incorporating rich chord progressions and harmonic layers, transferred over skills from his background as a jazz player. The result is an unmistakable sound of ethereal deep grooves with a soulful character which can be recognised throughout his back catalogue. This is perhaps most evident in his live show. Alongside his production Duncan Thomas is relentless as a DJ, and by no means shy behind wheels. He is constantly digging for fresh underground sounds new and old and is often recognised through he extended vinyl only sets. Frequently played venues including the Lion & Lamb, The Glove That Fits, and The Yard.
