  • Espion is based in Glasgow and has released music on various labels since 2005 such as Orson Records, Tyrant, Electrix, Exceptional, Soma, Underground Evolved, Serotonin, Deadlock and Backwater Community. Promoter of Camouflage in the Soundhaus in Glas..
Stephen Arnold began producing electronic music in 1994, building up a studio over time, and in 1997, moved to Glasgow to study sound, audio engineering and music technology. As he networked with influencial underground producers and promoters from the industrial city, this fuelled his ambition to produce darker, more experimental music. After several years as a promoter from 2001 (notably Camouflage and Breakcore Extravaganza), resident at various club nights (Super Scientists, Pogo Vogue, Dogma and more) and frequently attending warehouse parties and illegal raves, Espion made his first real mark on the underground scene in 2005, with sell-out releases on Transparent Sounds' label Orson Records, followed by remixes on two of the best selling records on Billy Nasty's Electrix Records; Transparent Sounds' 'Cider Club ep' and 'Spot the Difference'. Since then, his diversity in his music has seen him progress into a well established artist, releasing with Toob, Swayzak, Bangkok Impact, Mesak, Scape One, John Selway, Paul Blackford, Vector Lovers, Mazzula and C-System, with frequent plays on Dave Clarke's White Noise radio show in recent months. Espion has brought his dark and meticulous sound to venues all over the UK, Prague, Berlin, Udine (Italy) and Shenzhen (China), while also doing sound recording, sound design, post production and music for short film and computer games. As an electronic artist he is constantly experimenting and staying ahead of the game. Other side projects include 'Error Response'- an initiative designed to produce atmospheric downtempo electronica, of which there are two albums due out in 2009. His variation and diversity in his music, mixed with tireless efforts within various club nights, has seen him progress into a big name outside the electronic music underground, and particularly established himself as one of the best and well known producers in the UK. His live sets are a brick-shaking sonic assault of dark, filthy, back-alley techno, oppressive pounding beats and funky sci-fi electro synths! -> REVIEWS : "Espion 'Petrol Bomb The Fuckers' rivals a lot of the Satamile catalogue for dark and uplifting electro, and may well have given us one of the last electro anthems of the decade.." - Bodytonic "Petrol Bomb is simply fantastique - a pure Espion style & sure a future hit.
