- DJ | Producer | Live Performer | Founder of LemosOtavio Lemos, is a New York City based DJ, producer and electronic musician who’s been building his personality in the genre and cultivating his moniker, FadeFace, for over a decade. The idea behind the moniker stands by a deep and thorough understanding of generative music with respect to the artist’s improvisational stance on the production process of techno music. With a heavy focus on rhythm and groove, FadeFace’s music is often extemporaneous in nature with a minimal approach to post processing. Often times citing artists like Steevio, Blawan, Surgeon, Colin Benders and YouTuber mylarmelodies as direct influences to his workflow. Otavio has been heard exploring this sound at prominent places such as Basement, Output, Bossa Nova, the TimeWarp Music Festival and the mighty Unter parties. He has shared the room with many notable artists including Freddy K, Robert Hood, Kaiser, Marcel Dettmann, Len Faki, Volvox, Aurora Halal and Matrixxman. Between the years of 2010 and 2015, Otavio attended DubSpot NYC where he studied under one of New York’s most profound techno artists, Abe Duque. During his time at the school is where Otavio was first introduced to the versatility and endlessness of modular synthesizers which he continues to use as the forefront of his live sets and productions. From 2017-2021, Otavio attended Suny at Purchase where he work towards a Bacholor’s in studio production and recording arts. During this time, Otavio operated as a DJ and programmer at the public radio station 88.1 FM located at Suny WCC and played everything from classic Pierre Schaeffer Musique Concrete to Larry Levan to Detroit Techno. A versatile selection, with hopes to educate fellow colleges on the interesting history of electronic music. Otavio’s own label, Lemos, was established in 2020 and has served as a home for many of his own productions. The label has since opened its doors to other artists with respect to a similar recognizable sound and style. These artists include Thomas Hessler, Nicolas Vogler, Andc, Maccari and ASKE. Otavio’s ability to go from DJ to live act to producer to event organizer and label owner speaks to his versatility and devotion to underground dance music culture.
