The times which he spent at hipster clubs as a part time punk are long behind him. The history of techno music is, after all, closely related to the fatal joke that is punk. Freedarichs tracks, some of which he released as collaborations with Stiggsen, can usually be found at the beginning or end of various samplers – forming the intro or outro. This quickly leads to the conclusion that said tracks are able to envelop a whole generation of songs – as a summary or collective of different styles. Freedarich uses house, techno, electro and disco sounds to build castles in a musical sandpit. Music which, upon listening, manages to generate an indescribable feeling which one will longingly remember in the future. „Open-air hymns“ (de:Bug), deep tracks full of melancholic joie de vivre put into contrast with light and airy tracks, furthermore combined with a subtle hint of self-mockery. Minimal melodious techno which takes soul back onto the dancefloor, and funk which seems to stumble out of the speakers at the break of dawn. „Free.da.Rich“ additionally leads the „Staatsakt“ labels daughter company „Mittekill“, dreams up theatre plays with „Turbo Pascal“ as well as being the leading force in his country band „Die Bäume“. In combination with the band „Bodi Bill“ and the DJ „Thomalla“ he makes up the members of the young label „Krakatau Records“. Live, as well as as a DJ, Freedarich mixes sounds of joy with a volume of beats and spaces, and makes it clear that there is a lot more to come than what has been released to date.
