West London duo 'FUNKY SOLDIERS' were spinning tracks long before forming the collective. Having both enjoyed success on the London DJ circuit, it was a natural progression to form the house brand in 2004. Their trademark Productions and Remixes have gained the respect of DJ's and Producers worldwide, working with Labels & Artists from MN2S, Hed Kandi, Stereo Sushi, Defected, Salted Music, OM Records, Ministry of Sound, Universal, Barcoda, Just Music, Avex & Mapp Recordings. Riding high off the back of their release 'Silence' which featured the vocal talents of Robert Owens. Wildly regarded as THE voice of house music, Robert has not so much embellished house music as played a large part in defining it. ‘Tears’, ‘I’ll Be Your Friend’ and ‘Ordinary People’ are just some of the tunes that have borne his black velvet voice and gone on to become truly classic dance records. The track promptly caught the attention of Brooklyn house producer JoVonn who first exploded on to the Dance scene in 1990 with his release, "Turn and Runaway" on Warner Bros. Records, which reached number 10 on the Billboard chart. Released on MN2S in December 09 'Silence' picked up early support from ATFC, Grant Nelson, Timmy Vegas, Warren Clark, Osunlade, Richard Earnshaw, Terry Hunter, Emanuel and Tedd Patterson topping the Traxsource charts reaching number 3, Ministry of Sound commissioned Funky Soldiers to remix Chanel’s “Dance” resulting in a massive club smash that was heavily supported on national radio and still received airplay into 2009. Their sister label Hed Kandi also jumped on board and brought the pair in to remix Holland’s A List DJ Lucien Fort adding their soulful sounds to his track “The Shame” MN2S first took note of the Funky Soldiers in 2008 and commissioned the pair to remix Justin’s Michael’s “Take Me To The Sky” which then went on to sit high on the Traxsource chart for several weeks. As a result MN2S commissioned their first single for the label in the shape of “Thankful” which also topped the charts. The duo signed an exclusive recording deal with MN2S before sparking an eruptive response with 'Did You Ever', co written with In 2 Deep featuring Jelone, backed up by an impressive remix package from House supremo Sandy Rivera, Franck Roger and In 2 Deep. The track featured on the MN2S WMC Miami Sampler 09 and was unleash onto the streets of south beach backed up by tracks from Sandy Rivera, Haze, Danism, Michael Watford, Michelle Weeks, The Jinks, Phonic Funk, Max C and DJ Le Roi. With recent events playing alongside FEDDE LE GRAND and SANDY RIVERA at London hotspot Matter O2 and gigs in Ibiza, Miami, The Netherlands, Amsterdam & Hilversum's REX CLUB & SUPPER CLUB, Funky Soldiers are enjoying new found success and attracting a new legion of recruits.
