The musical stylings of dynamic South African DJ duo, Groove Element comprised of Luke Jooste & Morne van der Merwe need no introduction to residents of JHB. Driven by their desire to DJ, their need to be heard and many nights of party mayhem, Luke & Morne combined talents & joined forces in 2004 to form the electric DJ partnership Groove Element. With a residency at DCM they packed the legendary outside terrace at weekend after weekend & have performed at ESP, Truth, Submission, 330, Opium, Panama Room, H2O & in support of Paul van Dyk at Festival Electric. Honing his craft under the tutelage of DJ Speedy, Luke’s ability to mix, merge & mess with devastating effect has grown a loyal following in a mere 3 years. With a style that veers from emotive tech-trance & progressive to the dirty, ‘get down’ boom of filthy funk & electro, this DCM resident has raised the roof at ESP, Truth, Submission, 330, the Panama Room, Opium, Splash & Festival Electric. Alongside Morne, in cahoots with Syren as LUST or ripping it up solo, Luke has a knack for capturing dancefloor with his effortlessly diverse style, enigmatic presence & dangerous DJ charm. Morne started his career in 1995 as a mobile DJ before progressing to perform in clubs. A 7-year DJ career & 3000 strong record collection means you never know what Morne will pull out the bag. Morne’s diverse, cutting-edge music encompasses two styles: the driving, uplifting sounds of tech trance as well as funky, electro house. A DCM Resident alongside Luke, Morne has performed at ESP, Truth, Submission, 330, Opium, Panama Room, H2O & in support of Paul van Dyk at Festival Electric. The team made a guest appearance on the VIP floor for the Paul van Dyk party at JHB stadium and went from strength to strength touring 3-30 in Durban and Opium in Cape Town. This magic duo also needs no introduction to the gay clubbers of Johannesburg as their residency on the legendary DCM open-air terrace attested to weekend after weekend. Groove Element is on a lone mission to delivering house music that people want to hear! Rocking basslines, sexy vocals and enough energy to make the chandeliers shake!!
