Purveyors of fine funk, soul, art, music and the underground. The legendary Chicago based dj collective and promotional braincenter initially formed in 1992 in order to promote the house/techno music created in Chicago and Detroit, as well as educating new generations about the musics rich history. While House music was being relatively ignored in the Chicagoland area, HPS events served as an outlet for local artists and became influential to those who attended. Rooted in Chicagos loft and warehouse scene from 1992 to 2001 HPS was founded by djs "Davey Dave" Mason and "Mystic" Bill Torres, along with original members dj Traxx and Gene Farris. Other members also included Thomas Barnett, Santonio, Wyndell Long, Glen Underground, Boo Williams, Tim Harper, Jerome "Boris" Baker, and recently Jake Reif and an Honorable mention to Steve Poindexter who served as a host and ran the Chicago Police security goons. Also Justin Long, Jevon Jackson, Matty Harris, Mike Pierce and dj Frique were residents in many HPS events, as well as becoming some of the best djs in the scene. The hundreds of HPS events included annual series such as HOME (94-2001), Roots (95-99), House Preservation(93,94,96), Chicago vs Detroit (96-97) and Jack the Nation (1996 and 99) as well the very first Relief Records party which introduced the world to Green Velvet and dj Sneak. HPS also introduced artists Paul Johnson, Felix the Housecat, Robert Armani, Mark Grant, and more. From taking House out of 200 or 300 people loft and warehouse parties to 5000 people mega raves it quickly became completely accepted by a new demographic. House n Techno quickly influenced a whole new generation of dj and producers that eventually morophed into the sound it is today.
