J.L.D’s career started back in 1994 as a mobile jock travelling the length and breadth of his native West Wales, as an enthusiastic school boy with a passion for entertaining a crowd. Soon he had moved onto a set of Technics, and was using his spare time while in University in Cardiff to hone his skills behind the decks. Appearances at many a house party led him onto starting his own midweek night with a group of fellow students at a local club which led to him forming a partnership with another local dj, the Tiny Twins were born A residency at the University Dance night Nocturnal followed with the Tiny Twins gaining a reputation for their energetic and crowd pleasing sets. An opportunity to present a dance music show on local radio station “GTFM” was too good to turn down and alongside another 3 dj’s the Tiny Twins took to the air waves, with associations with local nights such as Bionic and national nights like Bugged out. The contacts and experience gained from 3 years on radio led to the Tiny Twins and 3 others launching a new night in Cardiff called “Superchunk” The night ran successfully in both Swansea and Cardiff for 3 years with guest including Justin Robertson, Jon Carter, Fergie, Phil Kieran, Pete Heller, Tim Deluxe and a whole host of others. As well as running Superchunk, the Tiny Twins also appeared at numerous other nights such as Backtobasics, Club Azuli, Escape, Cool House and many others A change in musical direction and the wrapping up of Superchunk saw J.L.D end his involvement in the Tiny Twins and forge a new solo career as DL Jones. The Shift in music direction towards techno and tech house led J.L.D (at the time called DL Jones) to a 2 residency with well respected Cardiff Techno night “Holodeck” dj’ing alongside artists such as Mark Broom, Jerome Hill, Billy Nasty and many more. After a couple of years of contemplation and taking a break from the Dj’ing scene DL Jones has re-launched his career as J.L.D, kicking off two brand new Techno nights in his hometown Cardiff. System caterS for the Minimal and Europen techno sounds, with influences from Artists such as Dubfire, Marco Carola, Robin Hirte, Geiser, Alex di Sefano Adam Beyer e.t.c Reboot Is all about the Harder end of the techno Spectrum, with influences coming from D.A.V.E the Drummer, Chris Liberator, Ant, A.Paul, Axel Karakasis e.t.c Both nights will strive to bring something new to Cardiff while trying to move back to the days were clubbing was all about the music and not about which dj’s could sell the most tickets or bring the most people to the party. Both nights are taking Cardiff and South Wales by storm, with System 909 especially fast becoming one of the premier nights out in the region, gaining wide respect from across Wales and the Southwest, with it's policy of breeding new talent, and shying away from the high cost, low value big name dj's. System 909 is forging it's reputation on music alone.
