- Berlin based Irish DJ and Producer.Electronic music has never lived in a silo. It has always been a fusion of concepts, sounds, and ideas. Berlin-based DJ and producer Jay Skelly takes this to heart in his productions and DJ sets. Born in the small town of Portlaoise, Ireland, Jay’s musical identity stems from a childhood filled with the synth-infused sounds of the 80’s, together with disco and soul, and then the discovery of electronic artists like Kraftwerk, The Chemical Brothers, Kevin Saunderson, Laurent Garnier and Daft Punk. His latest release “Last Days” which came out on Brooklyn-based label Dance Artifakts, is an expression of these influences and it reached number five in the Beatport Top 100 Techno release chart. It also gained support from Solomun, Undercatt, Mano Le Tough, Marco Carola, Adriatique and Radeckt to name a few. Jay’s DJ sets reflect his eclectic taste in music and seamlessly blends genres to deliver a mix of deep, intense, atmospheric, melodic, House and Techno. He has honed his craft as a DJ through years of playing festivals and clubs across both Ireland and Berlin. As part organiser of Gobsmacked Records events Jay has played at some of Berlin’s best clubs like Griessmuehle while also collaborating with EUN records to run open air parties across the city. Over the past few years, he has extended his love for music to encapsulate the entire process by becoming part organiser of the festival “Somewhere in The Distance”. Jay looks to further cement his reputation as a skilled DJ and composer in 2019.
