Kerouac has been making techno for some time now, locked away in the lab creating sonic experiments with a few ventures out with racks of Akais and synths to play a handful of live appearances. Reading crowd reactions and ploughing ideas back into producing, getting closer to realising the sound inside his head but also moving the dance floor. Last year saw the first signs of Dj support to Kerouac’s music, with tunes being played by Laurent Garnier as well as Layo & Bushwacka!, the latter persuading Kerouac to pass a copy of a ‘live only’ bootleg of Radiohead. The ‘Everything in its right place’ remix received many an airing on the major dance floors of the globe, including the terrace at Space in Ibiza. Last year also saw Kerouac gaining higher profile gigs, most notably a live slot in support of rising Hamburg dj/producer H.O.S.H. Later this year two of Kerouac’s remixes will be getting official releases, A remix of Marcel Janovsky on Cologne’s Treibstoff and a remix of Berlin producer ele.fant on Hypercolour. Kerouac is now taking a new live set on the road, retiring the akais in favour of a totally digital set-up. Which now makes it possible to create sets that can respond to the dance floor more quickly and also act as a testing ground for unreleased material.
