- A native of Macedonia and longtime resident of Seattle, Kinjo contributes to the Pacific Northwest music community as a DJ, producer, promoter, and record label head.His sound has morphed through the years, yet an aura of psychedelia lifted through space by futuristic rhythms and basslines remains his consummate passion. Along the way expect teasing vocal samples, trippy twists & turns, and trancy grooves on a minimal tip. Describing his journey through music: “The desire to play music to friends and acquaintances brings you from the dance floor to the DJ booth. The desire to see and hear how they respond to music, keeps you in the booth.” It all began with small private events in Macedonia, leading to clubs, festivals, and the Beatnex party brand in Skopje. Once in Seattle, Kinjo supported production of the venerable Decibel Festival and eventually established Grounded alongside then-local Miles Mercer. Across several years Grounded provided an unparalleled space in Seattle’s music culture for up & coming, genre-bending local DJs and premieres of touring acts such as Frank & Tony, Dorisburg, DJ Dustin, Chaos in the CBD, Toshiya Kawasaki, Palms Trax. Alongside long-time friend and b2b partner Konifer, Kinjo launched Rhizome Records in 2018. Rhizome created a platform for introducing West Coast producers to International remixers specializing in minimal and eclectic dance music. With 2 vinyls and 6 digital releases already in its catalog, the future looks bright for Rhizomeiros everywhere. 2022 saw the emergence of the Makes Me Human events series, marking a new chapter in Kinjo’s engagement with the Seattle music scene through a monthly introduction to the international underground circuit’s finest talents including Sepp, Mihigh, Janeret, Alexandra, Cosmjn, Amir Javasoul, and an ever-growing list of must-hears. With a trippy 2022 release on domestic label P.U.N.C.H.I.S. and numerous edits & experiments, Kinjo looks forward to his first vinyl release in 2023 including a remix from Uruguayan maestro Z@p. Linking together all these years and projects, Kinjo retains a hard-working commitment to his local music community, a teaching spirit, and an unrelenting playfulness when guiding the dancefloor into the early hours.̸Whispind - [P.U.N.C.H.I.S.
