He was born on 29th of July 1975 in Pecica (Arad), “the largest village in Romania” as one of Roby’s closest friend liked to believe. The first contact with music was at the age of 12, when he puts his hands on a Pop Rock Magazine from Hungary. The first vinyl he bought was a Queen album and the second , “Talking”. Living very close to Hungary, his first contact with electronic music was made here. As in Hungary electronic music was “cool”, his first bounds with this music were made through Depeche Mode, The Cure, Erasure, Camouflage or Front 242 sounds. In 1991 he decides to get more involved in the promotion of this phenomenon for the first time in Romania. He contributes actively as an organizer and promoter, to the opening of the first electronic music club in the western part of Romania, in his village, Pecica. He practices in rough technical conditions. In January 1995 he goes at the first “House Parade”, celebrating the birthday of a close friend. The New Years Eve 1997-1998 was the re-opening of Discoland Club in Timisoara. In January ’98 Roby starts working as a resident in this club. At the first gig was invited to play Dj Budai from Hungary, one of “the most wanted DJs” western of Tisa River. For the summer, he went to Hungary to see Marusha, but instead he found Sylvie and was very impressed by her. He stands that even now that he owes her a lot. At the end of the summer he comes back to Discoland where he makes parties with Mike Lovechild and “the recent discovered” Sylvie for the first time in Romania. Kool was a resident in Discoland until ’99. In that year he experienced something positive that seemed a lot like what he saw in Hungary: ”at 6 in the morning 600 people were dancing in the mud and having a blast in the rain!”. It was the outdoor festival De La Hoya, in Cluj. “That’s when I started to say that I am a Dj”. His style for those times was trance and progressive. In 2000 he went to Hungary, again, where he saw Anthony Pappa at work, as well as Nick Warren and Sasha. Meanwhile, he organized in the basement of the local school in Pecica, underground parties with DJs from Hungary and Yugoslavia. From the winter of 2000 until summer of 2001 he collaborates with Cluj Raving Society, plays and helps organizing a successful edition of Transylvanian Summit, with the guest DJ Norman Austin from Ministry of Sound. Soon followed parties in Chisinau-Cris and Santana, where came Sylvie, Sterbinszky, Dusan, Kuhl and so on. From the fall of 2000 until the 1st of July 2001 he collaborates with the Blu Gin Club from Baia Mare. This club soon became the best club in Romania hosting names like Budai, Junior, Sterbinszky or Tommyboy. Cluj Raving Society and Bianco e Nero Club from Cluj start booking Kool at some Dj Gatherings, along with Kuhl, Shootie, Surprise and, in June, Luis Paris, (“a giant step, first DJ from Plastic Fantastic” ), a dream party that he recalls even now, after so many years, with a lot o pride. In 2001 he receives his first invitation in Bucharest, at Studio Martin, for the Zero parties. Up next is Ciuc Premium Ibiza Summer Groove from Oxxo (Mamaia, summer 2001), where he was resident along with Dj Pagal. "Here the face of music changed for good the people in Romania ", says Kool about club Oxxo and the best after-hour parties on the Sea side. Summer 2001 finds him at Ghioroc Lake alongside with Rhadoo, Sky, Dusan and Pagal. In the same year ,he is invited on the Check Magazine Truck, at the Love Parade Budapest, with Slam Jr. and Lucien Foort. Soon comes a Free Magazine & BPM party with Corvin Dalek, Oliver MacGregor and most of the best DJ’s in Hungary - 3 halls and over 6000 people... The fall of 2001 Kool comes back to Bucharest. Here he is resident with Dj Pagal, in Space Club and they open parties with Hybrid, Chriss, Surprise or Oliver MacGregor. He also plays in Colours, Space, Wings, Shadow, MCM Cafe, The Web and Voodoo. Next, it follows a residency in Kristal Club Bucharest and the Kristal Summer Club in Mamaia, on the Seaside. He continues with gigs in Timisoara, Arad, Cluj, Baia Mare and in Hungary at Kecel, Home , Pacha, B52 Pecs, Akasto Stadler Stadium and in Ricionne, Italy. http://www.myspace.com/djkool70 Style: progressive / house
