Instead he is a dj, someone who knows the history of music like few others. Antonio Maugeri becomes Larsen (or maybe it always has been, since birth?) when he decides to play records. When in 1989 he played for the first time in a club in Catania, he played new wave, in a period, the late 80’s, when the rock scene in Catania was one of the largest in Italy. Then the transition to techno, then to acid and gradually, to house music, that he never left. Today Larsen has hardly abandoned his origins and his dj sets are a mixture of all the sounds and influences that have formed him over the years. A twenty-year career that has crossed all the fashions and styles creating a sound that is very personal, the 'Larsen sound'. In 1996 he became resident of Marabù and Taitù, the two clubs of reference of the Sicilian club culture. At a party he met Luca Marano. The meeting gives birth to the successful artistic partnership that will lead them to play together in London (The Egg, Aquarium), Berlin (Weekend), Copenhagen (Culture Box), and that will inspire them as well as live, in the studio, with the creation of productions and remixes for many international labels like Off (Germany), Tenax (Italy), Zoo Technique (Italy), Paul's Boutique (Italy), Escapism (Romania) and many others. The first record productions arrive in 2000, the year of the first record for Nolabel and of the remixes for major international labels such as Azuli Records. In those years also the first release for Bini & Martini’s Dark Ocean and projects of European importance as 'The Dark Side Of The Rhum' (2008) and 'Dirty thingz' (2009). Between 2006 and 2008 Larsen is also working with the radio format La Noche Escabrosa, first aired on Radio Deejay and later on M2O, showing great experience and above all desire to make known to his listeners not only the coolest contemporary music but also classics. Today is also working with DJMag Italy, the cult magazine dedicated to the global club culture, doing this almost since the magazine began its publications. Since 2009, Larsen is a regular guest at the Zoo Project Ibiza, the party that revelation is becoming a true reality not only in the island but all over the world, and also at the Weekend in Berlin with Luca Marano and at 'InDEEPandDANCE Day’ in Mamaia, Romania. Larsen played in Italy for years in the best clubs, like Tenax in Florence, Frau Marleen in Torre del Lago, Echos, Pasha and Wish of Riccione, Magazzini Generali in Milan, that have recently hosted a party that Larsen made it superb. Not to mention One More, the one night in London who wanted to line up him with a long DJ set. In 2011, Larsen has also played at Flex in Vienna, the underground club which is the considered the other face of the city: a bit dark, a little dirty, a bit noisy, is one of the most interesting clubs in Europe. ‘Larsen sound' is supported by big names like Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Luciano, Marco Carola, Dubfire, Steve Lawler, Laurent Garnier, Groove Armada, Josh Wink, Dj Sneak, Reboot, Robert Dietz, Markus Fix, Federico Molinari, Joris Voorn, Technasia, SIS, Paco Osuna, Ray Okapara, Brothers Vibe, Butch, X-press 2, Gel Abril, Leon, Ralf, Alex Neri, Paolo Martini, Mastiksoul, Davide Squillace, Karotte, Lauhaus, Resident Advisor, Provision Mag (tokyo), De-Bug Mag, Mark knights Toolroom Radio, Tsugi Mag, Different Grooves mag, AMDjs radio show, Ibiza Global Radio, Noice!, DocePulgadas RadioShow and many more.
