Hailing From South of France, Perpignan, Sylvain Garcia, exemplifies the curveball of today's Electronic music specialists and accomplished musicians. Learning to play the guitar seemed to be a good way to fight the atrocities of puberty and listening to the recordings of zany Zappa, arsonist Hendrix, and the LSD-inspired cadence of Pink Floyd and George Clinton helped a bit, too. Few music homeworks later, including several stays in Hip-hop, Afrobeat, Blues Rock, Fusion, electro Dub bands, tired of the collaborations, and strongly attracted by the new techno and underground house scene from France and Germany, He decided to immerse deeply into laptop territory and spent a couple of years learning electronic music production. His breakthrough was primarily due to the underground minimal house Paris scene (Circus Company and Karat) who cheerfully welcomed his productions and attitude in 2006 and contributed to spread the word to the whole scene. In Autumn of the same year, he was selected to attend the Red Bull Music Academy in Melbourne Australia, a platform for up-and-coming talents, invited over the course of a few weeks to perfect their studio technique and meet professionals. Also part of the talent pool that year were Flying Lotus, Douglas Greed, Daniel Brandt from Brandt brauer Frick, Nina Kravitz, Aloe Blacc, Clara Moto...this event definitely launched Le K in the worldwide electronic network. Since, as a musician/producer/Dj, firstly trained as poly-style guitarist, he has performed with his avant-garde house and techno project "Le K" in many prestigious clubs and festivals around the world, and has released dance music oriented records on few estimable labels over the last years. But definitely, stage seems to be his home. Le K wants to bring on a different kind of live electronic music, creating a crossover between styles, not willing to choose between the club and the stage, the dancing, the tonal complexity and the raw energy. His live set only confirms all this, with as much physical energy thrown into his laptop as aural energy being expelled from the speakers. It's rare to see someone have so much interaction with a computer. And clubs have been figured out : Le K highly rated Live sets have been showcased heavily across Europe, and several times around the world in great clubs and festivals such as rex club (Paris), moog club (Barcelona), Propaganda, Mixclub (Moscow), Lost baggages (Sydney), Miss Libertine (Melbourne), Less (New-York), Berghain (Berlin), Zukunft (Zurich), Pulp (Paris), Suxul (Ingolstad), DV1 (Lyon), Pitch Club (Porto), Fever (Bilbao), Iroko Content (Salerno), Kassablanca (Jena), Subclub (Bratislava), Villa (Oslo), Wmf (berlin) Sonar festival (Barcelona), Ferma Festival (Russia), Mutek Festival (Montreal), Berlin Music Days (Berlin), Overground festival (Geneve), ADE festival (Amsterdam), Paysages Electroniques (Lille), Four à Chaux Festival (Switzerland), Rechenzentrum Festival (berlin), Micro Mutek (Barcelona)... more than 150 gigs, sometimes by the side of artists such as Thomas Melchior, Bruno Pronsato, Sammy dee, Ark, Agoria, Nôze, Efdemin, Modeselektor, Carl Craig, Daniel Bell, Flying Lotus, Marco Passaranni, Jennifer Cardini, ... .... Recently, his particular approach to music reconciles electronic abstraction and dancefloor efficiency. Animated ambiances based upon abstract and concrete textures abound in his last productions, where an equal measure of house and techno interplay with elements of funk, dub and jazz guided by a strong artistic sensitivity and a rare energy. His upcoming first album on legendary underground French imprint Karat (Mr Oizo, Ark, Portable, Cabanne, Chloe, Krikor...) talentedly merges introspective and contemplative moments with joyful techno beats. Influenced by such divers electronic artists as Matthew herbert, Pepe Bradock, Pole, Four Tet, Carl Craig, Christian Vogel, or Ark, he is also a big fan of Jazz from 50's and 60's and ethnic music. Working for Music. As a composer, he has worked on several projects, including, theatre, multimedia and music for movies, and he's founder and member of monotone, http://www.monotonemusic.com, an European music composition and production collective which provides "music for music, music for pictures and, sometimes, music with pictures." As a computer music and Ableton Live's specialist, Sylvain has demonstrated his creative-cum-technical wizardry to create in 2010 with his German Partner Christian Blomert, TouchAble (http://www.touch-able.com) , a dedicated Ableton Live controller app for IPad, used by thousands of Ableton Live users and famous artists on stage and studio. Since one year, Sylvain Has been showcasing TouchAble across the best music and technology events across the world.
